  1. v1.4.6

    Faster, fresher, and a fix for an update that disabled the extension

    • Fixed an update in v1.4.4 that could disable the extension until you manually re-enabled it in chrome://extensions. Wallpaper streaming now works without asking for that broader permission at all.
    • New tabs feel noticeably snappier: the wallpaper fade-in is much faster than before.
    • A lot more variety: a wallpaper won't repeat until roughly 600-700 others have shown first, up from around 300.
    • A calmer, more refined default look for new installs, and the Google apps launcher is reordered around what people actually reach for most.

    A much bigger sky, a much smaller download

    • Nearly the whole wallpaper library now streams in quietly and saves itself for offline use after you've seen it once, so the extension install shrank to under 700KB while the collection grew to over 1,800 wallpapers, with significantly improved quality across the board and Suzume's letterboxing removed.
    • Google Calendar sync: when signed in, the Calendar widget now shows your real events for today.
    • Import your existing Chrome bookmark folders into shortcut folders in one step.
    • Rebranded to Shinkai Skies, with a rebuilt site at shinkai-skies.com: a live demo, filterable gallery, changelog, roadmap, FAQ, and install guide.
    • Appearance sliders glide smoothly while dragging, new installs start quieter with just the Weather widget on, and wallpaper rotation now avoids near-term repeats within a session.
    • The site's wallpaper gallery loads instantly and without any layout jump, even with the much larger collection.
    • Smaller polish: tap to reveal wallpaper scene info, favorite quotes resurface on new tabs, a simplified Settings > About tab, and fixed Layout/Search dropdowns.
